Motorcycle Frame Straightening Machine - Frame Making Jig. Offering - A Custom built Motorcycle Frame Straightening Machine and Frame Making Jig. It was built over the last 7 or so years to service BMW owners of the "R Series" (R 59 through R 5, 6 7 & 90 Series) Motorcycle Frame repair needs. The Blackhawk 10 Ton Ram and pump is used with a multiplying leverage design doubling to 20 Ton's of pulling force, enough to pull any of these frames in two. Stainless Steel Chain rollers direct the desired direction of pulling loads.

Double tube load arms support the rollers and ensure lack of moving and chain breakage safety while under load. You can see the infinity of side, front and top pulling positions possible with this configuration. The first three pictures show the most usual setup encountered, that of pulling the frame head angle back into its proper position.

Quick setup and done with ease. You should be a competent fabricator, machinist and welder to be able to make any additions needed for your own frame applications. The possibilities are then near limitless. The rollers pivot on 7/8 quick pins supported by all four walls of the dual tube construction. The most important mount for most motorcycle frames is at the pivot point of the swing arm.

For the BMW's (as shown modeling of a R75-5 frame mounted for pictures, not included), the swing arm pivots are mounted to the solid stainless mount, with the same fasteners as used for the swing arm mounting. The fourth picture shows a typical setup to pull the steering head from the front, side and back rectifying a common twist. Many motorcycles have this problem and shows up as a front to rear tire patch tracking problem known as "dog legged". If you are riding a bike and let go of the handlebars, it should remain on a straight track when not influenced by wind, road angles and off center weight. The machine was intended to be used with "floor pots" or floor anchor locations commonly found in most auto body shops. It could be used without these anchoring mountings if the adjustable cross brace tube is utilized as shown in the side dual pulling post pictured setups. The front post needs a mounting made for use with the cross brace tube. Screw jacks were sometimes used to oppose the pulling forces to the steering head stock and other locations. Screw jacks are not included. The most important geometric relationship of any motorcycle frame is between the horizontal swing arm pivot points and the vertical steering head cross relationship. This is why a laser line projector is used before making any pulls.

These laser projection levels are a great measuring tool, assisting the power of this machine and it's end results. This platform has and can be used to build your own frames. You will have to construct tubing cradles and your own mounts for your own designs.

The main fixture which is included is the universal jig to hold the steering head of any bearing diameter and at any angle you choose. The stem will need your own slip over adapter sleeve for the inside diameter surfaces of the head stock you are using. The jig was designed this way to accommodate your own fabricated slip over adapters, locked into the recessed notch with set screws. This project took years and if you don't already know how, I couldn't hope to impart all the needed "how to" for you to do it on your own. Pictured below are the accessories included with this Motorcycle Frame Straightening Machine.

Pictured below, showing the Adjustable Angle Steering Head Jig when designing and building your own frames. Pictured below is the modeling R75-5 Frame mounted on the frame straightener base. Above - The swinging gimbaled arm holds the Laser Level Axis Projector and then swings into proper position to line up the vertical line axis shown below. Below - Laser Measuring of the two axis, shown as vertical and horizontal laser lines, simultaneously.

This gives you an instant visual reference. Above - Laser Axis Projector mounted on the gimbaled arm, now swung out of the way, for easy future comparison measurements during your progress. Below - Showing the base frame construction. Bridged cross bracing of of the huge main frame tubing, using square tubing across both directions for surface stability and stiffness.

The single front pull post showing the 3/4 bottom plate encapsulating the main frame tubes, six securing bolts take shear instead of tension loads. Also shown is the cross brace support tube needing a lower mount made. This item can be removed from the store at any time.

It is available locally through craigslist and other vendors. The estimated weight is approx. Overall Dimensions are 28"W x 60"D x 40H. A lift gate truck is required for loading.
